Louis-St-Laurent breaking the ice / Le Louis-Saint-Laurent nous casse la glace

Thursday October 22nd
Day 15

We were making a slow progress in Viscount Melville Sound. Multi year ice from the North came last week or so because of the wind. I filmed Heike and Melanie working in the lab. Then, we all went outside: The Louis St-Laurent was arriving in a beautiful light. And she was fast!
I did a presentation at night showing a short clip of the ROV dive. Then, giving a presentation on my expedition in Antarctica with Students on Ice in February. We found out that Philippe, the French photographer, was on one of the sailboat that I took pictures of in Whalers Bay, Deception Island. Yes, small world! We will stop tomorrow in Radstock Bay to get closer to the Louis-St-Laurent and get some fuel from them.

Jeudi 22 octobre
Jour 15
